Wayne Bangs | Director of East African Outreach

As the Director of East African Outreach, it is my privilege to strengthen pastors and churches across East Africa.

My primary focus is to bring evangelism and pastoral training to the churches in the bush in East Africa. Less that 2% of pastors in East Africa have had any kind of theological, biblical or pastoral training.

Through an extremely well-networked African co-worker I met in 2009, we have a network of over 5,000 first-generation pastors in thirteen different countries waiting to be trained.

We have pastoral training and discipleship materials that we use to train the pastors, and to help the pastors to train other pastors, leaders and people in their churches. The materials were written in English and have been translated into Swahili, French, Oromo and Amharic.

Seeing many people come to Christ, we are teaching the pastors to establish discipleship groups for those who can read and listening groups among the illiterate using Bluetooth technology on their phones.

We are also bringing the Jesus Film in the language of the people to the most unreached and underreached tribes, and equipping select pastors with motorcycles to transport the film for showings. In just the past four years, we have 50+ new church plants, over 600 first-generation trained pastors, six solar-powered Jesus Films, and four motorcycles. The gospel is spreading in many ways, and the effectiveness of the churches we have worked with is increasing exponentially.

We can only continue to expand this work through the prayers and financial gifts of God’s people. We covet your prayers. If you are interested in supporting this amazing harvest as one of our ministry partners, you can do so by following the link below.
