Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

Proverbs 31:30

This morning God is watering His garden with a perfect shower…soft and steady. Everything is so lush and green and the sweet smells of summer are all around. I just asked my mother what one particular smell is…must be the Honeysuckle bush. What incredible variety God has surrounded us with….trees and plants, clouds and thunder, birds and bunnies, friends and family…there is just no end to His creativity.

Today I bought a sketch pad to use as a gratitude notebook…to daily remind myself to look, really look at what God is doing all around me and put a reminder of it in the sketchpad. Yesterday there was a light haze over the countryside and our neighbor’s horse was standing in the field. It was so beautiful that it took my breath away. I decided not to let the moment go by and went for my camera….the battery was dead. How easily these moments go past us.

But now the camera is all charged and it’s at my fingertips. And I have decided not to let my pictures live eternally in my camera but to print out pictures and tape them in the sketch pad along with expressions of gratitude. I imagine this will have its own reward as I thank Him who is worthy of all honor and glory and praise!

Send your EXPRESSIONS of GRATITUDE (photos, poems, praises, video, stories, etc) and I will post them in the women’s section of the website.

Have a beautiful summer….the sun is starting to poke through the rain clouds perhaps it’s time for a bike ride. Anyone want to join me?

Your fellow servant,
Debra

IMPACT LIVES update:
The Impact Lives event in April was an incredible success.
Our goal was 286,000 meals and God’s reality was 330,068.
Our goal was 750 volunteers and God’s reality was 1200.
Our goal was $72,000 raised and God’s reality was $82,674 (to pay for the additional meals packed).
God’s reality is much more exciting than our goals. It was exactly what I thought it would be…people serving the poorest of poor with joy and celebration.

I will be traveling with a team of 12 to the Dominican Republic in October to deliver the meals we packed. We will also be building 3-4 houses while we are there. Each house is approximately $3000. So if anyone would like to contribute to the project, please let me know.

We will be doing this again next year (May 8th) and want to invite a carload from each of our churches to come to Mitchell to participate and see what IMPACT LIVES is all about. I know if you come and see how IMPACT LIVES works each of you will want to engage your community, the lost and the found, in this great work. You do not have to pack an entire container but you could pack a part of a container while casting vision for your community.
